How about all of these blog posts lately? Can you believe it? Clearly, I have had a little more free time on my hands the past few weeks. I am on the road for work, however I am still in training mode, so I don't have many action items after our meetings. I know that this slow period is only temporary, so I am trying to enjoy it while I can! :)
Tonight I have had a full night of watching TV in my hotel room. I have been anxiously awaiting the Country Music Awards all week and the show was awesome! I LOVE me some country music! And, seriously, can I hire Carrie Underwood's trainer and stylist???
Are you wondering about the title of my blog post? Well, now I am watching Dateline and tonight's "Sign of the time" feature is titled "Put a Ring On It" and it is about a growing trend... man-gagement rings! For a woman, the engagement ring is an outward sign of a committed relationship. Men, historically, have not had any piece of jewelry that signifies that they are off the market prior to their wedding day. I always get a kick out of watching my newly married friends glance at their husbands ring finger on their wedding day... a weird observation, I know! (I likely never would have noticed the wedding band on my friends husbands if it hadn't been for Jolyn at her after-wedding brunch the day after she got married. I can still remember her coming over to say hi at the brunch and her watching David from afar and she commented how she loved to see his hand with his wedding band. - Jolyn, do you remember this at all? I am sure it was just one of many significant moments that weekend for you, however it stuck with me how proud you were that he was your husband!) I digress....
The man-gagement ring is supposed to be worn on the ring finger during the engagement, and then is replaced by the wedding band during the ceremony. The man-gagement ring then moves over to the right hand. I am not opposed to the idea of a man-gagement ring and letting folks know your man is off the market, however the idea of the guy wearing multiple rings after the wedding day kind of weirds me out! What are your thoughts?
